Herodotus
The reworking of the Langenscheidt edition, published around 1870-1910
translated by J. Chr. F. Bähr, total 1160 pages

Notes:
Why have we made Herodotus' books volumes 1-9 electronically searchable?

... Herodotus is quoted in many reports, but it is hardly possible for the reader to follow the quotes. This is made possible by the arpa thematic library technology: searching the entire work as well as the individual book and listening to the texts is possible. . . . In many university libraries the volumes that refer to the Google edition are missing... . . It is interesting to delve into ancient history. The reader will find analogies to current social conflicts such as land law, basic services, social behavior, etc.

The books we edited were quite yellowed and had many mold stains. This occasionally leads to large color differences, which we did not edit. The originals are available so that any differences in interpretation can be tracked. We ask users to report any misinterpretations to us. The edition is freely accessible. It can be adopted by universities or linked. We do, however, ask for voluntary support for our work.
